Steve Kot is an Assistant State's Attorney who has aided Intelligence in several cases. He was portrayed by Chris Agos.

Biography[]

Season 2[]

In The Weigh Station, Kot's daughter Dora is killed by a hitman, due to Kot being part of the Oskar Bembenek trial. He breaks down at seeing his daughter Dora's dead body and is held back by the gathered officers. Intelligence later arrests those responsible,

During An Honest Woman, Kot offers Erin Lindsay a job on a taskforce.

Season 3[]

During Forget My Name, Kot is called in by Intelligence. He later tells the feds that he gets a murder after being questioned on what he gets out of the case of a man slain by his wife and her lover.

In The Cases that Need to be Solved, Kot tells Intelligence they have to bring in solid evidence after gangsters shot a six-year-old child. When Antonio brings up how the child died, Kot references the death of his daughter Dora due to the vendetta of a criminal he had put away. After the gangsters are arrested, Kot attends the memorial of the slain child along with many witnesses, including the firefighters, medical staff of MED, and the police.

Season 4[]

In Don't Bury This Case, he is called in when Kelly Severide comes under investigation for a hit and run. He informs Hank that Severide couldn't be released on bond because it'd seem like favoritism, due to him being a firefighter and gives a deadline for investigation. After a carjacking ring was uncovered and all involved were arrested, Hank tells Kot, telling him that one of the culprits Mike Cox confessed that his friend Ryan Novak killed the girl but he says they'll still get Cox because he is an accessory. Kot also reveals that Severide, who was framed will be released because of this new evidence.

During Don't Read the News, Intelligence request his aid in getting a familial DNA sweep to uncover a cold case of serial rapes and murders. Although he has reservations on such tactics, he agrees and when the unit bring in a suspect Ricky Barnes, Kot tells them that the latter matched and has him detained. However, Intelligence was not convinced, as Ricky would've been so young when he committed the first murder and the subsequent rapes that followed. Their assumptions were accurate, as Ricky was only matched because of his close relation to the real culprit, his father Franklin Barnes and the latter was soon arrested after another test confirmed it.
